Privacy policy

Solar Manchester ("we") is an online service that helps homeowners in Greater Manchester understand solar panel costs, grants and payback, and request quotes from solar installers. You can contact us at u2us@solar-manchester.com.

We only collect what you type into our forms and basic technical data needed to run the site:

• Quote form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), postcode, borough and any message you write. When you arrive from the payback calculator, your calculator estimate (system size, estimated saving and payback) is sent with your enquiry.
• Error reports: if a page fails to load, technical details about the error are logged so we can fix it.

• To pass your enquiry to a solar installer so they can prepare and send you a quote.
• To understand which pages and calculators are useful, so we can improve them.
• To keep the site working and secure.

We do not sell your details, and we do not send marketing emails unless you ask us to.

When you request a quote, your enquiry is shared with the installer (or installers) who will contact you about it. Our website is hosted and our enquiry storage is operated by service providers acting on our behalf; they only process your data for us and keep it secure.

We use basic, privacy-respecting measurement to understand how pages are used. We do not use advertising cookies or build advertising profiles from your visit.

Enquiry details are kept only as long as needed to handle your quote request and any follow-up, then deleted.

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how it is used. Email u2us@solar-manchester.com and we will help. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
